Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless.

Background Check Requirement:

No employee or volunteer should begin service in the parish without the PA State Police Criminal Record Check. This document can be obtained online and the results are usually available within three minutes. (Please see above chart for link to this webpage.)

Employees must secure the required background checks within 30 days of hire. During this provisional period, their service to children must be supervised. If the FBI Criminal History Record (Fingerprint check) is delayed in being processed, the employee from day of hire needs to provide proof that he/she has completed the process for securing the Fingerprint check.

Volunteers should have all of the required background checks as they begin their service to children. If they do not, they may receive provisional permission to volunteer as long as the forms to obtain the background checks have been submitted. During this provisional period, their service to children must be supervised. All background checks must be received within 30 days.

Training Requirement:

  • Attendance at Safe Environment Training is expected with 90 days of beginning service to children.
Those who do not comply must be moved to “inactive status” until requirements have been completed

 Athletic Ministry Conference

Over the past fourteen years, the Athletic Ministry Conference has served to aid parishes in developing healthy athletic programs that support the goals of the CYO Sports Mission Statement.

This year the Athletic Ministry department will host the 15th Annual Athletic Ministry Conference.  This year's Conference will build upon prior years', providing both information and an opportunity for discussion.  Our goal is for you to leave with practical applications for producing an athletic program with a truly Catholic message.

The Conference offers motivating Catholic youth sports related material that will be supplemented with practical applications that you can bring back to your parish.  We strongly encourage you to send more than just one person.

Attention Pastors & Parish Athletic Directors:
*Your parish is responsible for having one representative at only one of this year's Conferences.  Parish sports programs who do not comply, will jeopardize their participation in the Archdiocesan CYO Tournaments.

The Athletic Ministry Conference takes place annually and is typically scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Saturdays in October.
